Portrait photography• Portrait photography or portraiture is photography

of a person or group of people that displays the expression, personality, and mood of the subject.

• The focus of the photograph is usually the person's face, although the entire body and the

background or context may be included.

portraits all around us everyday. From family homes to the front of magazine covers.

• Portrait photography comes in many forms, amateur and professional. Amateur portrait photography is things like selfies and family photographs, however professional portrait

photography is the type of images we see on magazine covers, adverts, billboards etc.

• In 1839, a year after the first photo containing a human being was made, photography pioneer Robert Cornelius made the first ever portrait of a human being.

Techniques• When photographing portraits it is best to have

you camera set on fast shutter speed, this means that the hole letting the light in is open for a short amount of time. This is to avoid any blurring on the images as it is likely that your subject will move so you need the shutter speed to be quick in order to get a sharp image.

• It would also be beneficial if you use a tripod to avoid camera shake from holding the camera and slight movement which would create a blurred image.

Landscape photography

Landscape photography shows spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other time microscopic. Landscape photographs typically capture the presence of nature but can also focus on man made features or disturbances of the world. However, landscape photographs show little or no human interactions and do not have people within the photographs. Most Landscape photography we have is of nature includingbeaches, green grass, flatlands, mountains, active volcanos

and other natural features.

Macro photography(macrograpy)

• Macro photography is photography producing photographs of small items larger than life size.

• It is one of the most popular forms of photography. It includes extreme close ups of plants, insects and other small items focusing on the tiny details.

• It is a way of exploring details which may not be visible to the naked eye.

Macro Photography uses:

We are most likely to see these types of images in magazines or perhaps on an advert. TV channels such as National Geographic would use a macro moving image for effect.

Macro photography can also be seen online in blogs and on social media.

Macro photography is used a lot in scientific investigations into bacteria and other miniature microorganisms

Photo Journalism

• The objective of a photojournalist is to be a visual storyteller. By photographing and editing images in a way that the media wouldn’t be able to. Photojournalists work locally or travel abroad to document current events, some even go into active war zones to get the uncut and unedited take on the war.

• Photo journalism is telling a story, however in order to do this the images are not edited as it has to show as close to real representation of the senario.

• The pictures that are taken by photojournalists would most likely end up in newspapers and would be used by tv news outlets who would pay the photographer.
