Music Video Production Diary After finally editing my music cutting shots, adding effects and transitions and correcting colours etc. I finally finished it and happy with my end result. I will now show screenshots of my music video explaining what everyone did within the group, what happened behind the scenes etc. Screenshot #1 This was taken in the location where we shot most of our music video which was called ‘Three Sisters’ a public pathway next to our college. We mostly filmed scenes to capture how big the forest was, and mostly to fill in gaps in our music video in case we ran out of footage. When filming these type of shots we just filmed whatever looked good and would go well with the idea of our music video. Most of the shots of the environment was filmed by me just walking to the location of where we were shooting which didn’t really take up any time of our original filming because it was on scout to location. Screenshot #2 This second screen shot was filmed in a slightly different place than ‘Three sisters’ this was just over the road and shot at an outside gym. The location was an easy place to get too because once again it was just a quick five minute walk from our college. We used this location to film a flashback scene which is why it is in black and white. Because we used two actors in this scene and the main cameraman was one of them, the group and I decided to let me film this scene. An idea for this scene, I wanted it to be quick but also

After finally editing my music cutting shots, adding effects and transitions and correcting colours etc. I finally finished it and happy with my end result. I will now show screenshots of my music video explaining what everyone did within the group, what happened behind the scenes etc.

This was taken in the location where we shot most of our music video which was called ‘Three Sisters’ a public pathway next to our college. We mostly filmed scenes to capture how big the forest was, and mostly to fill in gaps in our music video in case we ran out of footage. When filming these type of shots we just filmed whatever looked good and would go well

with the idea of our music video. Most of the shots of the environment was filmed by me just walking to the location of where we were shooting which didn’t really take up any time of our original filming because it was on scout to location.

This second screen shot was filmed in a slightly different place than ‘Three sisters’ this was just over the road and shot at an outside gym. The location was an easy place to get too because once again it was just a quick five minute walk from our college. We used this location to film a flashback scene which is why it is in black and white. Because we used two actors in

this scene and the main cameraman was one of them, the group and I decided to let me film this scene. An idea for this scene, I wanted it to be quick but also dramatic so I decided to use different angles when filming and when editing use quick cuts to give this desired effect. The rest of the group helped make the filming place look presentable so we could film while I and the two actors Dan and Dan decided on what will be shot where and discussed ideas. I will now show you other screen shots from this scene:

This screenshot was filmed before the screen shots above there was only one vital change which was Dan’s hair. We filmed the flash backs after he got his haircut so he would appear to look younger in them scenes. Because my music video is different to others in my group I changed a few things. Originally this clip

was of Dan sitting down, but because I had different ideas with my video, I reversed the clip when I was in editing so it made him look like he was getting up and not sitting down. Again as a group while out on location for our music video shoot we decided what angles and shots we all wanted and then worked together to get the clips we wanted.

The main concept of the video was meant for this person (Dan) to be lost, so it was shown in this shot, using his facial expression and his body posture. We used different angles to show how lost he was, doing this gave the idea of how big the forest was. Colour correction was used in multiple shots

one of them being this one, this is because we filmed on different days and we couldn’t always get the same exposure and lighting as the following shots which we filmed, not much was changed when doing colour correction only slight changed to contrast and brightness.

Screenshot #5

As I explained before about filing gaps which random scenes of the environment, I decided to get close up shots like this one and use the manual focus to try and give a good film effect. The triangles have meaning in the video so I and the group decided to get shots of these symbols on trees and random

objects of the surrounding area. All the symbols will link up in the end which will be the reason for all these similar shots within the video.

Screenshot #6

As talked about before we decided to get a shot of Dan with the triangle symbol, we used an extreme close up shot and did a few different angles but chose this one. Before we filmed this shot we have to draw on the symbol so we chose Lewis to do it because he has a steady hand and did Art back in

high school.

This scene took a lot of hard work to film, but in the end it turned out as pictured. Because I was an extra in this part I had nothing to do with the general filming/angles/shots etc. of the scene. The difficult parts within the filming were getting the right gestures, acting to be on point and no

messing up. It took about 5/6 shots to get the correct one which isn’t bad at all. Getting extras for this scene was no problem at all because our friends have filmed there videos and were willing to help put with ours.
