How to Make a Christmas Gift Box
Equipment NeededCardboardPencilScissorsSellotapeCompassRulerRound thing (to draw around.)
To Start
Using a pencil draw around something round to make the shape on the right.
Using your ruler draw in three sides of a rectangle. Make sure that the rectangle passes through the points where the circles
intersect.
Cut around your shape to produce:
Now for the tricky part!
• You are going to use the point of a compass to scratch the surface of the cardboard. This is called scoring and will allow you to bend the card in a curved shape.
Place your round item so that it passes through the intersection and the edge of the rectangle as shown. Score around the edge of your round item. Repeat four times so
that you have scored where the dotted lines are in the picture on the right.
Rub out pencil lines (You will not have dotted, blue pen lines).
Nearly There!!
Fold the card in half and bend along each of the score lines, as above.
Sellotape your box together.
Decorate, with beautiful pictures.
Fill with lovely presents!
• Hints and tips
• To adjust the size of your box use different sized round items to draw around. Eg: Plate.
• Be as accurate as you can, otherwise your box will not look professional.
• These look better if you use patterned card instead of school cardboard.
