nomadic, designer Marc Newson. The two sides are

routinely balanced in his trademark biomorphic style.

Marc's forms are often imitated, but what other

designers seldom imitate is his preoccupation with

materials and processes.

You have to start with an understanding of the

material. Often your innovation is just coming up with

a new way to use material.

To teach students how to make things, and for them

to observe how things are made.

“I would like them to come out of [the exhibition] with

a smile on their faces. One of the really important

parts of designing, for me, is to inject a bit of humour

into it. Design is not a matter of life or death. It is a

natural response to smile when confronted with good

design.”
