What my identity is about

• For my project I will be trying to photograph the identity of a city, preferably of Sheffield or Doncaster.

• I am doing this to highlight all features of the city, being the greens of the fields, and the worn down areas of the city.

• This will be my `emotion` of the city portrayed through personification of objects.

This is an example of one of my shots, taken using the macro setting.

Photographic Techniques

For my photographic techniques, I will use the following;

Close ups – To show the small features of the city

Center of interest – To portray distinct features of the city

Colour – To add emotion to the picture

Leading lines – To provide a point to the horizon

Rule of thirds – To focus important aspects of the image.

Panorama – A general wide image for a unique photo

Contrast – A unique and different way for a photograph

Photo extension – RAW OR JPEG

I will be taking my photos in RAW file type. This is because photos taken using raw are not compressed with lossy compression, allowing full feature editing without the loss of quality. This means the final image will appear a lot better when rendered into a jpeg or png.

Timings for my shoots

The middle of the day is perfect for my shots, as this allows the full emotion of the city to be taken. Different times of the day however provide different emotional responses with the same photograph, this means evening or even night photography may also be good for my theme of identity for a city.

I will create my photography by using strategically placed camera shots and edit these using programs like Adobe Photoshop. The photography I take will fit the theme of identity by being taking in a city as well as use properties of a city (possibly stereotypes) to bring emotion across to the photographs. My photographs will suit the them
