I bet you take hundreds if not thousands of photos a year. They are mostly of things you love, like your kids. Let's take these precious photos off your hard drive and create something tangible because hard drives fail and it could be a thing of the past. In this presentation, we'll explore 5 elements that makes photo books meaningful and how to make it last for generations. 1. Photos tell my story. What's the story I want to tell? What do I want to remember and feel again when I look at these photos? I could use 1 image per page to make a point, or put a few photos in a collage to show details. 2. Add text. Use text boxes in the book making software to tell more about my story. Blurb.com is the easiest book making system I've used. In the photo book, I could use quotes from famous people, quotes about the kids or cute things they've said. Include things I want to remember like what they're like at this age. You could even write them a letter and include it in the photo book. 3. Make a book that will last. This is something I want to share with my grandchildren one day. Make it durable so it'll last. Make a hardcover photo book and upgrade to thicker paper. All these upgrades are affordable and worth it. This is an heirloom photo book, remember? 4. Display your photo books. Photos are meant to be seen and shared. Display them on your coffee table or put it on the photo ledge beside your other art work. 5. Store it well. When the books are not on display, be sure to store it well. Lay it flat and keep them in a cool dark place away from direct sunlight.
