SMS GENERATION: PROFICIENCY IN SPELLING TOAB-ENGLISH JUNIOR STUDENTS OF CEBU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY TUBURAN CAMPUS, CEBU 

OBJECTIVES To find out a better way to improve the language

proficiency of ABE juniors despite the temptations of the world’s globalization.

To know the students’ level of proficiency in spelling using SMS.

To create spelling guide that may solve, if there is any problem concerning with the proficiency in spelling of AB-English junior students.

To proposed trainings and seminars that would enhance students spelling ability.

• Good spelling also results in good writing because if the students know how to write each letter of a word correctly, they can write and express their thoughts and ideas without causing so much confusion to the readers, specifically the teachers.

• English spelling is not easily mastered. Even accomplished readers and writers may at times be uncertain about the spelling of particular words.

• It is important that the ABE juniors’ students are proficient in spelling because it’s one of their field of specialization.

Proficiency of AB-English students in SMS spelling commonly misspelled words

• Spelling of the students were checked• Scores were tallied• A table was designed to show which of the

commonly misspelled categories did the students get the highest number of error

• Students level of proficiency in spelling difficult commonly misspelled words were organized also in table

English juniors student of Cebu Technological

University Tuburan Campus, Cebu.

This research utilizes a questionnaire to

gather data of the respondents.
