Hamza Francis Bacon Francis Bacon was an Irish born British figurative artist. His abstracted figures typically appear isolated in glass or steel cages set against flat backgrounds. From the mid 1960’s he mainly made portrait heads of friends. Francis Bacon was one of the most powerful and original figure painters in the twentieth century. He was particularly noted for the obsessive intensity of his work. His subjects were artists, friends, lovers, and even himself. His painting technique consisted of using rags, his hands, and dust along with paint and brush. The theme of this picture is abstract. The artist has tried to make the person in this picture look sad, depressed, upset or tortured. The dark and thug-ish colours in this picture exhibit the main theme. My personal opinion about this picture is that the artist has captured the expressions and theme very well and has shown them in a sophisticated way.
