Evaluation Question 2HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

Page 2: Evaluation Question 2

I have aimed my product at young people who are into rock. They are usually portrayed as being:

Rebellious

Noisy

Savage

Drunk

They can be rocognised by how the dress, their unusal hairstyles and their tattoos.

I was inspired by magazines like NME or kerrang who have the same audience.

I have represented my social group in different parts of my magazine.

In the images:

My models were dressed in a rock style outfits. I didn’t want them to be all black, so I have broken the stereotype a little and one of my models is dressed in a jacket which only had black sleeves, and the rest was colourful. By this I wanted to make the magazine look more alive by adding more colours to it. Also, on some of the pictures the models are holding a construction type, and weat a gas mask. I think they are good props because they can be associated with rebelioussness and braking rules.

By written text:

I have included some famous rock bands like Artctic monkeys and Green day on the sell lines and the contents list. Also I have mentioned the music festivals and albums on the cover.

Colour Pallet:

I have used colours which suit to that particular social group. The colour pallet I have used consists of three colours – black, beige and maroon. I used black and maroon for the writing and overall content of the pages, and the beige for the background. I wanted to use a light background so it would contrast with everything that is on top of it.
