Evaluation #7 : Looking back at your preliminary tasks, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product? My magazine genre aims were based around age’s 15-14 year olds who were interested in R&B. When I had started doing my preliminary task I was a bit nervous because I had never created a magazine front cover yet alone a double spread page and a contents page. However, it gave me the confidence and a much clearer understanding of how the conventions of my music magazine work. First of all it allowed me to get a great idea of the structure and layout for the magazine. I was then able to look back at my preliminary when creating my real magazine and make sure I added changes by researching into other R&B music magazines and digesting the improvements that people had given me. I created my preliminary task on PowerPoint and word so there was a huge jump between using InDesign and power point but I worked my way around it and once I got used to it I found that it was a lot easier. The quality difference between using power point and InDesign was a huge jump, from the use of different text fonts and a range of colours and shapes. I.e. Puffs for the competition. Editing my photographs were a lot more easier in Photoshop than in PowerPoint because it has a lot more features and the fact that I had used an IPhone camera in the preliminary task I created made a huge difference to the picture quality, the resolution was bad comparing to the professional camera which was a lot better in resolution and it was a lot clearer and brighter, this was also due to the professional lighting where the pictures had been taken and there were no black shadows which could make the picture look gloomy. After completing my preliminary I went onto my mock up then finally completing my final production. I am now convinced that I am really good at using InDesign and PowerPoint so that I can achieve an effective product out of it.

: Looking back at your preliminary tasks, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

My magazine genre aims were based around age’s 15-14 year olds who were interested in R&B. When I had started doing my preliminary task I was a bit nervous because I had never created a magazine front cover yet alone a double spread page and a contents page. However, it gave me the confidence and a much clearer understanding of how the conventions of my music magazine work.

First of all it allowed me to get a great idea of the structure and layout for the magazine. I was then able to look back at my preliminary when creating my real magazine and make sure I added changes by researching into other R&B music magazines and digesting the improvements that people had given me. Scrolling through my blog you are able to see how I have improved from the preliminary to the final product and it looked a lot more professional.
