Since 2005, there has been a significant increase in the usage of social network sites….

However, this has caused an increase in Cyberbullying

“Cyberbullying contains all of the elements of tradition bullying, but

extends to the online environment”

Cyberbullying includes many mediums…

“85% of parents of youth ages 13-17 report their child has a social networking account” – American Osteopathic Association, 2011)

Nearly 43% of kids have been bullied online. 1 in 4 has had it happen more

than once

Over 80% of teens use a cell phone regularly, making it the most common

medium for cyber bullying.

Causes of Cyberbullying include:

Anonymity

Social Pressures and Personal Issues

Effects Of Cyberbullying Are:

Depression and Loneliness

Bullying victims are 2 to 9 times more likely to consider committing suicide.

Miss, Skip, or Drop Out Of School

Usage of Alcohol + Drugs
