Her Childhood

Coco Chanel had a poor childhood. Her mother died when she was only 12 years old. Her father sent his three daughters to an orphanage. She learnt the art of sewing there and worked as a seamstress. She also worked in the cabaret as a singer. One of her famous songs was called “Coco”. This became her nickname.

The brand “Chanel”

Coco is a successful businesswoman. She is the founder of the brand “Chanel”. Later she also created handbags, jewelry, fragrance.

She called her fragrance “Chanel Number 5”. Coco told that 5 was her lucky number.
