Personal life

Born on May 31st 1930 in San Fransisco.

He is an American actor, film director, producer, musician, and politician.

He has 7 kids with 5 different women.

He was mayor of Carmel, California from 1986-1988.

Eastwood was primarily an actor in his early life and directed his first movie, Play Misty For Me, in 1971.

Many of his films are posted through his own production company.

It is thought that he used his own company so he didnt have to worry about deadlines and money investment.

Allowed him to follow his own and favoured directional style.

Style of directing

He had a very one shot, one take attitude, he felt he had enough trust in the actors to do it right the first time.

Many of the films he directed had little rehearsal and the story board for many of his films were made up as the film went on, allowing him to have more control over the movie as it developed.

Tragic lives and endings

There is a key theme of his films contain a tragic ending and a character with a tragic life.

Although nearly all of his films contain a tragic ending, not all of these films contain a violent ending.

Acting in his own films.

Eastwood often acts in his own films, and when he does, he plays the role of an old American man. This could link with him in real life and show that he is feeling lonely.

He also plays the role of a father like figure in many of his films, linking the older and younger generations.

In Gran Torino, he plays a rapidly decreasing old man, who has a very close relationship with Thao.

In Million Dollar Baby, he plays the role of an old American man and a father like figure towards Maggie.

In unforgiven, he plays the role of an old man who cant afford food for his children.

Once again, acting in his own films gives him more control.

Gran Torino

Gran Torino is one of my favourite movies directed by Clint Eastwood. It is about a old man who lives in a run down and gang ridden area in America. This films contains a tragic life, as Eastwood plays a man who's wife has passes away, doesnt see his family often, and his children are trying to put him into care. The film also contains a tragic ending, as he is shot and killed by a group of gang members.

American Sniper

American Sniper is a 2014 American war film directed by Clint Eastwood, it is about a patriot , called Chris Kyle, who joins the army and becomes the best sniper the army has even seen. Although this film does not contain a tragic life as noticeable as his other films, he is being affected by his job. This film contains a very tragic ending, as Kyle is killed by an ex-soldier who he is trying to help.
