Special Christmas treats are a big part of the Bahamian festivities and its common for families to get together to prepare black cake, ginger beer, garlic pork, pork roast, sorrel, mauby and sweet potato fly which is fermented drink
A Bahamas Christmas is characterized by it king size festivities in the form of carnivals, parades, dancing and Caribbean music.
Yuletide season here is incomplete without the Junkanoo parade which is held every year on Boxing Day. Junkanoo celebrations have its roots in the history of the Bahamian people who descended from slaves that worked the plantations
These slaves first started the practice of this carnival like festivities when they got their annual Boxing Day leave from tough enforced labor
