CAGED BIRD SINGS I feel restricted I try to fly, but when I spread my wings and am lifted I hit the walls The barriers designed just for me Sometimes I ponder how this could be Was it destined? From an egg, was it known By a mind greater than my own That this would be my home? Or did I make a mistake? Was I snared by a net Because of my lust for bait? Misfortune or fate? I do not know But it seems there is nowhere for me to go So here is my song I will sing it at night And all the day long For I long to be free....

CAGED BIRD SINGS

I feel restricted

I try to fly, but when I spread my wings and am lifted

I hit the walls

The barriers designed just for me

Sometimes I ponder how this could be

Was it destined?

From an egg, was it known

By a mind greater than my own

That this would be my home?

Or did I make a mistake?

Was I snared by a net

Because of my lust for bait?

Misfortune or fate?

I do not know

But it seems there is nowhere for me to go

So here is my song

I will sing it at night

And all the day long

For I long to be free....
