The book cover I’m going to redesign is the book called kensuke’s kingdom by michael morpurgo and It was published in 1999. This book is about a kid with a parents going through a lot and about to split up. The michael's dad decides to go out and buy a boat and sells everything for this boat so all the family could travel the world to try and keep his family together. Once set off there was an accident where Michael and his dog get swept up onto an island and from that point onwards it is a ploy to survive, they have lows and highs, they meet new friends and enemies and they want to survive and get off the island they get abandoned on.

Fonts that could work

Page 5: Book cover experiments

The mark my words is a script font. This font has a high cap line and also a low descent line. It is a suitable font for my book as it is like scruffy handwriting, this links with Kensuke’s Kingdom as Michael is stranded on an island and would have scruffy handwriting as he wouldn't be writing much so it would be scruffy. As well as this the flicks on the words are wavy what links in with the ocean and waves he would be surrounded by.

The ocean twelve font is a decorative font and it has a fairly high cap line but also a high descent line. This links into the book Kensuke’s Kingdom as it is very wavy and looks like the rough water of an ocean what links into Michael's surroundings of water as he is trapped on an island. Also the decorative part inside of the font could also look like sand scraped along with a stick or an object like that to give it this effect, this also links in with the book as Michael is stranded on a deserted island covered in sand so it links in because of that.

This font is another decorative font and is equal in size throughout. I chose this font as it looks like when you write in sand with a stick to ask for help as you rush it and the wind blows it to give it the wavy sort of effect. This links into my book as Michael is surrounded by sand and is also in urgency of help with no food or water and wants to find his way home and back to his family, as well as this he needs to figure out ways to grab somebodys attention if they see this and this is one method to do this.

The next font I picked is beyond the mountains that is a decorative font. This font is sharp and crisp and has a high cap line and also a low descent line. As well as this all of the letters vary in size and are all different sizes that i like. This font links into the book as Michael’s dad buys a boat for the family to travel in and this font reminds me of writing that usually goes on the back of family boats where they name the boat and that is why i picked this font.
