PitchThroughout our production of our short film we got feedback from audiences atdifferent stages in order to develop, change and therefore improve our finalproduct. The first stage of this collection of feedback was done by the use of aformal pitch about ideas of the genre and plot of the film. During this pitch whichwe presented to our media class we were able to find out that most of the studentsfelt that our ideas were well put together and that it would work perfectly butsome said that we should be more specific with our target audience which wenarrowed to audiences who are fans of horror/thriller gender aged between 16-24.

Unfortunately, as I arrived late tothe A2 media course I was unableto participate with my groupmembers on the pitch. Therefore, Idiscussed with my teacher and mygroup members that I would createa questionnaire in order to gatherextra feedback from our film.

In terms of our short film, our targetaudience enjoyed the film and found itreally entertaining and mysterious. In amore constructive critical way some ofthe audiences wrote in the questionnairethat they would have loved to see someextra information or back story abouteither the victim or the vigilante killer inorder to identify the severity of not onlythe killer’s actions but the victim too.

During our pitches and focus groups when editing our short film ourclassmates were able to give us further suggestions. Some stated thatincluding a shot-reverse-shot between both characters in a stand offwould work well in order to create an anticlimactic moment before theconcluding climactic denouement. However, when we tried toincorporate this into our storyline most felt that it didn’t work as theywould have expected so we deleted those scenes. An idea that we didapply and worked well was that of the colour correction by presentingour film darker than it was in order to fulfil the ominous and tenebrousatmosphere that we wanted to create.

In preparation of creating our ancillary products (film poster and filmreview), we created another pitch in order to reveal our first ideas ofwhat we would do to our class. We created three variations of our filmposter in order to find out which would audiences appeal to. It seemedthat the first example was the most popular however, our groupdecided that the second choice summarises the focus of our film morethat the first. This is because the one inside the container with theboard as background alludes to the vigilante concept which is central to“One by One”. In addition to this we then blended in a picture of aforest we took when researching and planning within the black hood ofour model in order to present all areas of relevance from our film.
