Masthead – the masthead for this flat plan is positioned in the centre of the front cover. I have done this to ensure I include both the enticement and logo either side of the masthead. The font and colour of the masthead is yet to be confirmed; I plan to research fonts to ensure I chose the best and most attractive font for the heading of this page. Main image – the main image will be placed behind all text on the front cover. I decided to have the main image on this flat plan to the right which I believe questions to common conventions of a magazine. Coverlines/blurbs -- I will have a number of coverlines and blurbs on the front cover. I decided to put these coverlines to the left of the cover as I believe this looks better than to the right of the cover (does not follow common conventions) Puff – I have included a puff to be positioned on the main image as this will be further immediate attraction for the reader. The puff will read; “FREE INSIDE” and will be connected to the main image artist – on the contents page I will further explain what the puff is selling. Barcode – the barcode is positioned at the bottom left of the front cover – the magazines issue number and date of release will be printed here as it gives the magazine a very professional look.

Masthead – the masthead for this flat plan is positioned in the centre of the

front cover. I have done this to ensure I include both the enticement and logo either side of the masthead. The font

and colour of the masthead is yet to be confirmed; I plan to research fonts to

ensure I chose the best and most attractive font for the heading of this

page.

Main image – the main image will be placed behind all text on the front cover. I decided to

have the main image on this flat plan to the right which I believe questions to common conventions

of a magazine.

Coverlines/blurbs -- I will have a number of coverlines and blurbs on the front

cover. I decided to put these coverlines to the left of the cover as I believe this looks

better than to the right of the cover (does not follow common conventions)

Puff – I have included a puff to be positioned on the main image as

this will be further immediate attraction for the reader. The puff will read; “FREE INSIDE” and will be connected to the main image

artist – on the contents page I will further explain what the puff is

selling. Barcode – the barcode is positioned

at the bottom left of the front cover – the magazines issue number and date

of release will be printed here as it gives the magazine a very

professional look.

Masthead – I have chosen to follow the common conventions

of a real magazine for the placement of the masthead as I

feel it is important for the reader to be firstly attracted to the

heading. The colour will be in a bright blue which is a fun youthful colour that will attract my target

audience.

Features column – this column is very important on a contents page – I will include a number of coverlines and blurbs on this column as I want to display as many articles on the

contents page as possible. The numbers will be printed in large

beside the coverline. Both the font and design of this column will be in

contrast to the house style of my magazine.

Regulars column – this column will be printed along the bottom of the contents page. I have decided to include blurbs in this column also as I feel this gives

the reader a better guide into the magazine.

Images – the images on this page will overlap; I feel this shows a better look for the page (youthful and non-conventional)

there will be ¾ images on this page as images will be the most appealing feature

to the audience.

Logo – for this magazine I have decided to create a logo which goes along with the

house style of my magazine. The logo will be related to the masthead of the magazine

which I have a number of options to choose from. Underneath the logo I plan to have

the date printed to ensure the issue is unique.

Masthead- I have positioned the masthead at the top of the first page on the double page

spread as I feel this looks more professional and laid out

better. This way, there is more room for the columns and

other features I have included in this dps.

Enlarged quote – text on a dps is the most important feature

and so should be laid out correctly and at an appropriate

font and size. A common magazine convention is to have a enlarged quote pulled from the text in a bigger font which is used to attract the reader.

Images – I will include 2+ images on the dps as I feel it will give the reader a better insight to the

appearance of the artist, while their personality is captured in the text. The images will be fun

images which will be attractive against all the text on the pages. On the second page of the dps I will include a large landscape image of the artist which is a common magazine convention I feel important

to follow.

Blurb / subheading – beside the masthead I feel it would benefit the reader to include a small blurb about the artist which will help introduce the

artist on who they are, as I have chosen to cover undiscovered artists.

Masthead – the masthead is positioned at the top right side of the

cover. This area is the common convention of a magazine and so I feel

it will provide a sense of professionalism for the reader and also add to the aesthesis of the magazine. the red colour scheme of the heading

is inspired Q magazines red masthead.

Main image - the main image will take up all of the front cover, I will use blending and overlays to help design the coverlines and

other features on the cover. The main image on this front cover will be highly contrasted

or in black and white as I feel these two filters add to the music / celebrity feel to a

magazine and this is the look and appeal I am going for to attract my target audience.

Coverlines/blurbs – on this front cover I have included many coverlines and blurbs, I do believe the number of

these would change when it comes to designing and producing the cover. I like the layout of these coverlines as

they do not overtake the main image; as in they are displayed at the side of

the image.

Extra image – the extra image on the front cover is a common idea on many

magazines, I decided to play with the idea of having another image as well as the

main image on the cover as I feel it would be attractive fro the audience. The image will also have a coverline to highlight the

meaning of the image.

Puff – I have decided to include the puff at the bottom of the page as I feel it looks different and special. The puff will include something which will instantly attract a reader to buy the magazine e.g

FREE INSIDE; DEBUT ALBUM.

Masthead – I included a banner-like masthead for the contents page which creates a different look for the magazine. The colour scheme is transpired onto this page

giving the magazine a house-style. The masthead is in a fun youthful font which will attract the target audience.

Puff – the puff on this page is displayed as a special feature – this feature will be in contrast to image

3 on the page; an overlay in the two feature will make this clear to

the reader. The use of the red colour for this puff follows the

house style.

Features column – this column is very important; all coverline which I include in this column will have to be the coverlines which are displayed on the front cover. The page numbers in all columns will be of the same design and colour; Ii will further emphasis the scheme of page numbers later in my

construction.

Regulars column – this column is laid out differently than the

features column which I like the idea of having a different layout

of the coverlines. I will use coverlines such as STARS

BIRTHDAYS, as this is the kind of articles which are used in

regulars columns.

Reviews column – I think this column is a fun addition to this flat plan. It adds to the quality and quantity of the magazine and so it appears to the reader that this is a regular

feature in the magazine (it may appeal to some). The layout is the same as that of the regulars column which I like very much. I got inspiration for this column by reading a

number of music magazines.

Images – there are three images on this contents page – I feel this number is very appropriate as it allows visual reading yet

there is still enough space for the different columns and coverlines which

make a contents page.

Masthead – the masthead will be in a very fun but readable font – the masthead will

be something very attractive about the article on the dps. With further research, planning and construction I will decide on

the wording of this masthead.

Images – again, this page displays 3 images. These images will be ‘selfie’

type images the colour scheme of them will be in contrast to the front cover image; highly contrasted or black &

white. I may also experiment with the hippie,

sun lit filter as I feel this could look good on a dps.

Blurb/ subheading – this will act as a small description of who the artist is,

instead of the reader not being interested in learning about the

artist in the full article this blurb will help introduce the article and so

attract the reader into it.
