yourself

The particular song of Jess is been created to demonstrate how loneliness can destroy your life and spirit, but at the same time what do you have to do, in order to prevent it from happening. In the music video we can see Jess performing the song in some scenes, but after a while we realise that the narrative has nothing to do with her , which is very unusual nowadays. The narrative is about a young man who I guess has lost his father and lives with his mother. Their relationship is not exactly perfect, as we can see in most scenes, and this is another reason that he is looking for a father figure to guide him. That's how he finds a mentor, a teacher. The old, black man is teaching him how to face his fears and problems, by using music to his advantage. That method is helping through his life as we can see that at the beginning his peers are beating him up and bullying him, because of the simple reason that he is not equal to them.

However after he learns how to play the drams, his music and determination, become a tool to his success and a way to get respect from the same people who disrespected him so much. Also after a fight that the boy had with some other guys, we see him going home and facing his mother, who was concerned about his son, but he just walked away. This suggests that he preferred to run away from his problems instead of facing them, but in the end he realises that wherever you run the problems will keep following you and that's why you got to learn to solve them by yourself and that's when his relationship with his mother got better that before. The point that Jess is trying to give away, is that despite the fact that loneliness can hurt you deeply, you have to stay true and don't blame yourself, for the only way to be happy is to face your problems/demons. Furthermore that the fact that when Jess is performing we see a lot of people following her, illustrates the point that when you accept yourself, then everybody else will too, and in that way you'll never stay alone.
