3 Things That New Born Photogaphers Should Keep in Mind
Newborns are special, and all new parents are eager to have their bundles of joy photographed at their
best. These innocent creatures should only be photographed by the best, in the most delicate manner.
Since they are very fragile, not everyone can do great justice to shots with newborns. If you too are
looking for newborn photography in Brighton, it is best to use the services of someone who has a basic
understanding of these three things.
1. How to pose them: Newborns do not move much, and their immobility makes for a challenge in
finding the perfect pose. Since newborns also usually sleep most of the time, the photographer
has to do most of the posing for them. Photographs shot in the same way can often turn out to
be completely different, based on how the photographer has chosen to pose the subject – in
this case, the new born. It is best to use a pose where the baby can continue to rest peacefully,
and which also captures the peace and the fragility of the tiny little one. The photographer
should not be afraid to experiment, but should also be careful in posing the baby, to avoid any
untoward accidents.
2. Keep shooting till the perfect shot is achieved: When it comes to newborn photography, parents
usually do not mind if the shoot takes slightly longer than usual. Newborn babies tend to have
their own needs, and they do not want to stick to anybody’s schedule. If the newborn wants to
feed, you will have to stop your shoot and allow the baby to get its nourishment. Often, the
parents would be more apologetic about wasting the photographer’s time, than the
photographer, about wasting theirs. The more pictures the photographer shoots, the more likely
it is for at least some of them to be perfect. Sometimes, when the photographer keeps shooting,
they may be able to capture a rare moment that couldn’t have been planned. These pictures are
often the best of the entire lot.
3. Creativity is important, but so are logistics: One thing that is sure about newborn photography,
is uncertainty. Babies soil a lot of diapers, and these diapers have no place on a set. So a fun and
creative set, with plenty of places to hide soiled diapers is very important. It is also important to
have a changing table so that the parents are able to change the baby in peace, and so that your
props and the sets wont be soiled for the lack of a proper area for changing the baby.
Photography young children is rewarding, but photographing newborns can be liberating, if the
photographer has the right spirit. This, however, is not everybody’s cup of tea. So it is important for
parents to consider only those photographers who have an expertise in this particular niche. Not every
photographer can bring out the beauty and the innocence of your precious little baby, so turn to
someone who knows what it is like to do newborn photography in Brighton.
