The Charm of Local Thai Life: 'Live, Learn, Share and Care.' Keynote, presented at the Thailand Travel Mart (TTM+) 2014, Bangkok for the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Peter Richards, expert on creating local community benefits through responsible tourism and fair trade. The presentation updated international buyers on inspiring innovations in Thai responsible tourism, from community based tourism to luxury, green hotels. The presentation gave an overview of Thai government policy support for sustainable tourism, introduced the work of Thailand's Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA) and Thailand's Community Based Tourism Coordination Center (CBT-N-CC) which assists responsible tour operators to work in partnership with local Thai communities. The program also presented specific examples of innovative CBT, education and voluntourism programs developed by leading SME tour operators based around Thailand. 1) Live: experience the charm of Thai life with community based tourism 2) Learn: develop and grow with educational experiences in Thailand 3) Share: ‘give something back’ with needs-based, volunteer travel 4) Care: be part of a greener future with low carbon tourism and green hotels
