Money matters - 1

General: Germany is much cheaper than Denmark/Sweden, especially for booze and other essentials, including chandlery. Moms (VAT) in Denmark is 25%.

Diesel: (Autumn 2011) similar to UK, around €1.40 litre (more expensive on the islands), often cheaper from filling stations.

Marina fees: (10m boat) varied €15-25 per night (loyalty card from Baltic Sailing can get 20% discount from 30+ marinas). Self-service machines dispense codes or “loaded” cards for facilities.

• Fastest passage – Klintholm to Svanemølle, Copenhagen: 56 miles, average 6.4 knots, 60% under sail

• SYH to Ijmuiden 134 miles

• Delfzijl to Cuxhaven 123 miles

• Total of 172 miles in various canals
