TIRTHAPURI is the place where the notorious Brahmasura was killed. The first

scenic spot to see is the Tirthapuri hot springs closely

related with Guru Rinpoche. As a traditional place for pilgrims to bathe after their circuit Kailash,

the spring is worshiped and treasured by the local people.

The exact meaning of the Yam Dwar in Hindi lingo is “the gateway of the God of Death”. It is the initial point of circumambulation of Mt Kailash known as Chorten Kang Ngyiwhich means two

legged Stupa in Tibet.

The Sunrise atMt. Kailash is

considered to be “Precious Jewel of

Snows”.

Rakshastal Lake is a salt water lake which is in Tibet,

it is also called as“Lake of the Devil”.

The lake is believed to contain a deadly poison. It is

located close to Lake Manasarovar. Manasarovar

lake looks more clear in contrast with Rakshastal

lake.

The 80 feet high flagpole at Tarboche is covered with

prayer flags. Then they raise the Tarboche flag pole back up

and circumambulate it in a clockwise direction. If it is

directly straight up, then the year will be prosperous with

no diseases, healthy livestock, and good crop harvests.
