A world tour would take you all over the
world, and to all the major tourist
destinations around the world. You might
find yourself in Paris to see the Tower of
Eiffel, or you might find yourself staring at
the Statue of Liberty while on a world tour.
It might as well find you staring at the
posts in the imperial city of Mekenes in
Morocco, or you might find yourself
looking at the Buckingham Palace. If you
love antiquity and treasure old things, you
would love being in Egypt for a vacation.
With its tombs and pyramids, Egypt stands
out of other places in the world with its
magnificent pyramids and the Sphinx.
Some General Facts
about Egypt
If you are looking forward to a tour of Egypt in
the near future, you should be sure you have
some general information about Egypt. Egypt
is an Arab Republic located in North Africa
bordering the Mediterranean Sea. It has the Red
Sea in its west. Sudan lies in the South, while
Libya occupies a place in the West. Egypt has
an area of 1,001,450 square km. A large part of
it is made of desert, although quite a bit of it is
occupied by the Nile River. With scanty rainfall
all over, the Nile River remains the sole source
of moisture for a large populace. Egypt houses
the Suez Canal that acts as a shortcut between
sailors who intend to sail from Europe to
Western Asia and India. It provides a better
route than having to travel all the way around
the African continent. It has Cairo as its capital
city, which lies in the north east.
Your Budget Would
Determine Which
Tour Package to Opt
For
Several tour operators offer packages for
tourists willing to travel to Egypt. Of
course, they offer all general information
about Egypt as well. As per estimates, the
country attracts as many as 12 million
tourists each year. While a few tourists
flock here for the sun, sea and sand, others
look forward to touring the historical
places in Egypt including the pyramids and
the Sphinx. There are resorts of retreat in
places like Sharm-el-Sheikh and Hurghada,
while some tourists like to relax bathing in
the clear waters of the Red Sea. Some of
the best scuba-diving adventures could be
enjoyed here, if you are into this sport.
Are Kings Buried In
The Valley of the
Kings?
The Egyptians did build mighty pyramids to
make the pharaohs’ era memorable, but some
other hidden mausoleums were also made in
that era. One of the most famous of these
mausoleums is the Valley of the Kings. This is
located near Luxor, an ancient city of Egypt to
the west of the river Nile. These tombs contain
evidences of a hefty preparation for the life in
the world after death. A colossal amount of
treasures and clothes were stacked in such
tombs to help the dead royalty in the other
world. The bodies of the dead were preserved
by the process of mummification.
The first mummy to form a part of an exhibit in
a museum was the Ginger. It was dug out in the
later years of the 19th century, and is on display
at the British Museum. It is believed to belong
to the era of 3400 BC.
