Our names are Bolek and Lolek. We’re popular cartoon characters from Poland.Today we’ll show you

some of the most interesting places in our country.

Of course! There are plenty!

It’s our sea area called Pomorze.

We’re in Słowiński National Park. There are over 140 kilometres of tourist walking trails

here.

There are also observation towers,

dunes, lakes and beautiful beaches.

Here’s the heart of our country – the capital city, Warsaw.

This region is called Mazowsze.

There are a lot

of landmark

Palace of Culture

and Science is the most well-

known .

It’s 237

metres high!

Warsaw is a huge and modern city.

There is a place where people used to mine

coal. It’s Śląsk or Silesia –

our region!

Katowice

This is

Spodek,

a sports

and

concert

hall.

‘Spodek

’ means

a

‘saurcer

’ in

Polish.

Doesn’t

it look

like

one?

Yes! There’s also a

swimming pool, an ice

rink and even a

hotel inside.

This is the Statue of a

Polish Soldier in Katowice. There are names of

battlefields from World

War II written on

the statue.

It’s one of the

biggest and

heaviest Silesian

statues. It weighs 80

tones!

This is the football stadium of GKS

Katowice, a well-known sports

club.

GKS is short for

‘Górniczy Klub

Sportowy’, which means ‘Miners’ Sports

Club’. They currently play in

Polish First League.

Football is one of the most popular sports in Poland.

Karpaty, the highest mountains in Poland.

Zakopane

This mountain is located in Little Beskids . There is a

lake underneath the mountain.

Żar Mountain is very popular among paragliders.

Welcome to Tatra Mountains. Behind us is the highest mountain in Poland, Rysy. It’s 2499 metres

high!

Karpaczz

There are also other mountains in Poland. Let’s visit Sudety.

This is the Vang church in Karpacz. It was built in the 12th

century. Guess

where? In Norway! It was later

transported to this town.

Sudety are so much different from Karpaty – much wilder and less crowded.

Małopolska, or Lesser Poland, is a

historical region in Poland. Its capital

is the city of Kraków.

This is the Royal Castle and the  Wawel Cathedral.

They’re located on a hill by the Vistula River. Some of the

buildings on the Wawel Hill were built in 970!

an important urban centre in Europe.

Toruńń

Toruń is located in Kujawy, another historical region of Poland.

Let’s vist Toruń, one

of the oldest

cities in Poland. The old town of

Toruń is the place

where the famous

astronomer Nicolaus

Copernicus was born.

Toruń by night.

Nicolaus Copernicus proved that the Earth turns around the Sun.

Toruń is also famous for its delicious gingerbread. It has been made here since the

Middle Ages!
