How can you improve these sentences and citations? My basketball team is a discourse community because it has

My basketball team is a discourse community rather than a
speech community. Swales defines a discourse community by explaining, “A speech community typically inherits its membership by birth, accident or adoption,” which means that members do not typically choose to join that group (Swales 471).
