What’s a Retweet?Retweeting is how Twitter users share interesting tweets from the people they are following. They copy and paste the original tweet and send it out. To give credit to the original person, users usually put “RT” plus the originator’s username at the beginning of the tweet. Here’s an example:
RT=Retweet
DM=Direct Message
@Replying
The “.@” in front allows all my users to see this tweet
Only “@” in front would only allows mutual followers of me and @askbigqs to see the tweet
Twitter vs. Facebook
Twitter.Tweets <140 characters. You can follow someone, but they don’t have to follow you back. You can look at someone’s public profile and see their tweets without following them. You are shown every update in your Twitter feed
Facebook. 16,000+ characters. You friend someone and you are mutually connected. You can Like Brand Pages such as Gables, Coke, Oreos and receive their updates. You are not shown every update in your Facebook timeline
Why I <3 Twitter
. You receive all updates.
. It isn’t mutually exclusive. You can follow me, but I don’t have to follow you
. To see photos, I have to actively click the link
. Easily to connect to celebrities and brands
. News. I get most of my news from Twitter and clicking #hashtags
. It’s short and sweet
