Invited speakers: Evren Dağlıoğlu (Urban) and Selçuk Özcan (Dragoman) Invited LSPs: Urban Translation Services and Dragoman Ltd, both from Istanbul, Turkey Urban Translation Services is a bridge across European, Turkic, Middle Eastern, and Asian languages. Connecting Asia and Europe with its Istanbul (2006) and Barcelona (2010) offices, Urban is on the way of becoming a global brand in translation industry with its planned San Francisco office. Urban provides clear answers for questions such as “who are we?”, “how do we do our job?” and “what is our corporate policy?”: “transparency”, “professional team”, “technologyspeed”, “competitive price” and “continuous control for quality”. Business approach which determines the main characteristics of Urban is created in this context. Urban's core team, who have been brought up by Urban and of which Urban is proud of, and the esteemed professionals who have joined Urban act with this awareness. Urban became the leading translation company of Turkey in such a quick time with its ever-developing technological infrastructure, and its three-phase production process, namely translation-editing-proofreading, which is subjected to ISO 9001 and EN 15038 standards. Urban maintains its development by adding new language pairs on its portfolio. Urban-Istanbul and Urban-Barcelona offices incorporate translators and editors specialized in automotive, medical, consumer electronics, software, law and finance and project managers with a high level of experience at every stage of the workflow communicating in Turkish, English, Spanish, French, German, Catalan, Greek and Arabic. Dragoman Ltd is an Istanbul based LSP and a technology evangelist. We specialize in web globalization, transcreation and multilingual conference interpreting. We are committed to deliver highest quality translations using some of the most advanced technologies. We are partners with leading European translation technology providers including XTM, easyling and XTRF. MT is a growing revenue stream for us and we are happy to use MT as an integral component of our production. We are open to share our experiences with like-minded agencies and help build the future of translation industry together. Selçuk Özcan serves as MT&QA Lead at Dragoman Ltd. He is mainly responsible for optimizing and testing MT engines, defining quality requirements, creating quality assurance (QA) solutions, and training team members. He is involved with developing and implementing quality and post-edit strategies, which involves performing data (bilingual or monolingual) and workflow management, and integrating quality principles into MT+post-edit processes.
