Strawberry recolortut

• Open the file in Photoshop.

• Save the file as a .psd (Photoshop Document) in your personal folder.

• Choose Image Size from the Image menu.  You will see a dialog box that shows the dimensions of the image in inches and pixels, as well as the Resolution. Change the width to 11 inches and the Resolution to 300.

• Use the Magic Wand Tool and click to select the red part of the strawberry.  You will see a dotted line moving around selected areas.  You may not have selected everything you need, so change the Tolerance setting in the Options bar to 50 and reselect.  Try a variety of settings and note the results.

• Choose Deselect from the Select menu.  The selection will go away.

• Now try the Magnetic Lasso Tool.  • Click and release on the edge of the strawberry and move your mouse to select the entire perimeter of the strawberry.  

• Double-click to complete the selection.  You will see a moving dotted line around the edge of the strawberry indicating the active selection area.  

• Don't worry about making your selection perfect on the first try.  You can add to your selection by holding down Shift while using the regular Lasso Tool.  You can subtract from your selection by holding down the Alt key while making your selection.

• Choose Inverse from the Select menu.  Your section area will now include everything except the strawberry.• Choose Selection>Save

Selection.  Click OK.

• Choose Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue and Saturation.  Click OK in the dialog box that opens.• You will now see an adjustment box on the right side of your screen.  Adjust the Saturation to -100 and the Lightness to -5.

• Choose Selection>Load Selection.  Your previously saved selection will appear in the dialog.  Click OK.

• Choose Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Levels.  Clck OK again.

• Adjust the three sliders in the adjustment panel to change the lights and darks in the image.  Be sure you are creating a composition that lets the strawberry be the main emphasis.

• Save your work by choosing File>Save.

• You will now save a new version for cropping.  This preserves the original full size of your work in an original document.  Choose File>Save As and save your document with the same name, but with crop at the end of the file name.

• Choose the Crop Tool. Select the part of the image you want to keep, focusing on the Strawberry.

• Choose File>Save for Web & Devices.  Choose the PNG-24 format from the Preset drop-down and set your size to 600 pixels wide.  Click OK.  Save your exported document to your folder under the same file name.
