The day-to-day condition of the atmosphere at a place with
respect to the temperature, humidity , rainfall, wind speed etc is
called the weather at that place.
The temperature, humidity ,and other factor are called the
elements of the weather.
The weather reports are prepared by the meteorological
department of the government .
To measure minimum and maximum temperature special
thermometer are used called minimum and
maximum thermometer.
All the changes in weather are caused by sun.
The average weather pattern taken over a long time, says 25
years, is called the climate of the place.
Rajasthan receives very little rainfall . This is the typical desert
climate. It is hot and dry. The north-eastern India receives rain
for a major part of year. Therefore we can say the climate of
the north-east is wet.
Climate has a profound effect on all living organisms.
Animal are adapted to survive in the condition in which
they live.
To live in different climatic region animals have special
protecting features.
Feature and habits that help animals to adapt to their
surroundings are a result of the process of evolution.
The polar region present an extreme clod climate .
Animals living there have adapted to these severe condition.
For example-
Polar bears- they have a thick layer of fur to protect them from
extreme cold. They have a very strong sense of smell to locate and
catch there prey. They has long curved and sharp claws to walk
on ice. It has a layer of fat under its skin to keep them warm.
They are good swimmers also.
Penguins - they also have thick layer of skin to keep them warm.
Penguins huddled together to keep them warm. Like polar bear
they are also good swimmers.
Other animal that live in these region are oxen, reindeers, musk,
fishes, seals, whales, and birds.
The tropical region has generally a hot climate because of its
location around the equator. Even in the coldest month the
temperature is generally higher. These region get plenty of
rainfall. Tropical rainforest are found in Western
Ghats, Assam in India, South east Asia, Central America, and
central Africa. The major animal that live there are
monkeys, apes, gorillas, tigers, elephants, leopards, lizards, bir
ds and insects.
RED EYED FROG
Red Eyed Frog has developed
sticky pads to climb on trees on which they live.
TOUCAN
It has a long, large beak. It helps a toucan to reach the
fruits on branches which are otherwise to weak to support its weight.
BIG CATS
They have thick skin, sharp eyesight, sensitive hearing and skin
colure to camouflage by blending with the surrounding.
The day-to-day condition of the atmosphere at a place with respect to the temperature,Humidity, rainfall, wind-speed.etc is called the weather at
that place. The weather is generally not the same on any two days and
week after week. All the changes in the weather are driven by the sun.The average weather pattern taken over a long time, say 25
year, is called the climate of the place. The tropical and the polar regions are the tow region of the
tow region of the earth, which have severe climatic condition.
Animals are adapted to the conditions in which they live.
Animals in the polar region are adapted to the extremely
cold climate by having some special
characteristic such as white fur , strong sense of smell, a
layer of fat under the skin, wide and large paws for
swimming and walking, etc.
Migration is another means to escape the harsh, cold
condensation.
Because of the hospitable climatic condition huge population of plant and animals are found in the tropical rain forest.
Animals in the tropical rainforest are adapted such that they eat different kinds of food to overcome the competition for food and shelter.
Some adaptations of animals living in the tropical rainforests include living on the trees, development of strong tails, long and large beaks, bright colors, sharp pattern, loud voice, diet of fruits, sensitive hearing, sharp eyesight, thick skin , ability to camouflage in order to protect themselves from predators, etc.
