Embedding is when you insert a document of one type into a document of another type.

An example would be when you insert a spreadsheet into a word processing document.

Within like-programs, such as those within Microsoft Office, the ability to embed is relatively easy because the programs have a shared development basis.

With tens of thousands of programs, the inter-operability is not nearly as friendly.

As we know, the World Wide Web has allowed for a common “platform” where documents of all types – papers, slideshows, videos, etc - can be accessed by everyone, instead of being housed on one’s own computer.

Prior to Web 2.0 developments, if you wanted to access a resource – video, presentation, etc. you either had to have it sent to you, via an email....

You simply copy it and then paste it into your blog or wiki in the appropriate spot.
