LOUISIANA PURHCASE
• Thomas Jefferson was the president of the United States.
• In 1803 he felt that the city of New Orleans was important to the United States and wanted to purchase it from France.
• He sent two Americans, Robert Livingston and James Monroe, to ask Napoleon Bonaparte, the ruler of France, to sale the22 city of New Orleans.
• Napoleon Bonaparte decided to sale the whole Louisiana Territory to the United States.
• The United Stated purchased the territory in 1803.
• The United States paid $ 15 million dollars for the Louisiana Territory.
• The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the United States.
