How it works: LDAP is a protocol created that reads

directories or records. It was written by the

International Telecommunications Union

(ITU). LDAP uses TCP/UDP Port 389.

LDAP is used to query and update an

X.500 directory. Uses the X.500 Standard.

Users can obtain an OpenSource copy

using Open LDAP.
