The earthquake in Japan took place off the Pacific coast of Tohoku. It occurred on March 11, 2011.

The earthquake’s magnitude was 9.0. It was the most powerful earthquake to ever hit Japan, and one of the five most powerful earthquake’s in the world.

It was a horrible thing because many people have nowhere to live and

nothing to eat.

This is Honshu after the earthquake. It moved Honshu 2.4m east.

Many electrical generators were taken down.

A 220,000 barrel of Cosmo Oil Company was set on fire by the earthquake.
