Inner Planets in the Solar System
By: Cody Chilson and Trevor Greene
Mercury
Named after the God of Commerce from Roman Mythology.
Small Magnetic field which has 1% the power of Earth’sNo satellites.
Very Unstable Temperatures, Ranging from 90K to 700K
Venus
Second Planet from the sun. Named after the goddess for love
and beauty from Greek Mythology. Brightest object in the sky with the
moon and the sun being exceptions. Earth’s Sister Planet
Earth
Only planet to not be named after a god in Greek/Roman mythology
71% of earth’s surface is covered with water.
Greenhouse effect raises the average of earth’s temperature
only planet that has liquid water on its surface
Mars
Was named after the god of war from Greek mythology.
Visited by Mariner 4 in 1965Southern Hemisphere of mars has
many craters, similar to the moon Atmosphere is 95% carbon dioxide
What is the hottest Planet and why?
Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system by far. It is this because the planet has an atmosphere based off of Carbon Dioxide and some Nitrogen. The atmosphere is also 93 times the mass of earths. With these things It is enough to trap the heat from the sun and put it into the planet. Some people may find it odd that Venus is the hottest planet and not Mercury, this is because Mercury has no atmosphere and does not trap the heat from the sun onto the planet.
Similarities of All 4 Inner PlanetsAll of them were named after a god from Greek/Roman Mythology but Earth
All of them are in smaller size compared to the outer planets.
Most planets have stable temperatures with the exception of Mercury
Mercury and Earth both share that they both have a magnetic field, but Mercury's is only 1% the power of earth’s.
Differences of All 4 Inner Planets
Earth is the only planet that has water on it’s surface.
Earth is the only planet that is sure to have life on it.
Earth is the only planet that is effected by the Green House affect.
Venus is the only planet that is hotter than a planet that is closer from the sun than it.
Venus and Mercury are the only planets that have an atmosphere mostly comprising of Carbon Dioxide.
