Types of Grid

Computational (Eg : downloading)

Scavenging(Eg : Using unused desktops)

Data(Eg : collaborated Firms)

COMPUTATIONAL GRID Computational Grid computational grid is focused on

setting aside resources specifically for computing power. In this type of grid, most of the machines are high-performance servers.

SCAVENGING GRID Scavenging grid A scavenging grid is most

commonly used with large numbers of desktop machines. Machines are scavenged for available CPU cycles and other resources. Owners of the desktop machines are usually given control over when their resources are available to participate in the grid.

.

DATA GRID Data Grid A data grid is responsible for

housing and providing access to data across multiple organizations. Users are not concerned with where this data is located as long as they have access to the data

Problems Due To Multiple Downloading

Downloading huge number of files

Hang up of the system

Rebooting problem

The Globus Project provides open source software tools that make it easier . These tools are collectively called the Globus Toolkit. Globus Toolkit is the open source Grid technology for computing and data Grids.

What GLOBUS TOOLKIT IN GRID will do?

Working of our Grid Model

Easy Accessing Through Globus toolkit while downloading

ADVANTAGES Effective content sharing Efficient downloading Maximum utilization of Resources Applicable for scientific and satellites applications

DISADVANTAGES Not applicable for small applications There is a chance for misuse of data

Potential Applications

High capacity computing, large-scale chip design .

Content sharing.

Remote software access

Make effective use of computing resources.

Reduce significantly the number of servers needed.

Limitations of Grid Computing

Not every application is suitable or enabled for running on a grid.

Cellular wireless networks are more constrained than traditional wired networks because of the limitations of bandwidth, processing power and memory.
