Some buttons have a letter in brackets. These are Hot Keys that can be activated by using the Alt key and the letter

The system also has other letters that can be used with the ALT key. To see which letters perform what function, press the ALT key on its own, and the letters will be underlined.

Toolbar Modification

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

Toolbars can be created locally as below, or globally in the Utilities module

You can copy an existing group or individual wizard from the delivered list or create your own

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

When adding the new toolbar, you will need to give it a name and a description.

Once created, you can make add new groups and wizards to the toolbar.

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

When creating your own, choose a wizard from the dropdown menu and the rest of the information will be filled in automatically. These can be amended as required.

When creating or copying wizards and groups, you can change the description, text fields and icon that appear on the toolbar, as well as allocate a function key.

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

Once created, these local toolbars can be amended through the Workflows client, or through the file stored in C:….\Sirsi\Workflows\ToolLocal

Sample file:AddBriefTitleWizard|Wizards.workflows.Circwfs.AddBriefTitleWizard|0|2|1|Fast Add Title|0addnew|Fast Add for returning to Cataloguing|Add brief title, call number, and copy to the catalogue. |Wizards.workflows.Circwfs.AddBriefTitlePropertyWizard||||

Why make the changes here?

• Allows you to make changes using the replace option in Word (although care should be taken to not amend the delivered options)

• Allows you to add the same Wizard twice in different groups in the same toolbar

• Can see the allocated Function Key (the fourth field), and change a number of them at once.

• You can make changes to a number of wizards without having to open each individually in Workflows.

Adding User Pictures

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

Adding a user photo to SirsiDynix Symphony

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

What type of photo do I need?

• JPG or GIF• Size 90 X 90 pixels, could go higher, however the bigger

the picture the more space it takes up.• The name of the file is the barcode

Reformatting Reports

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

Pipe Delimited Reports

• There are a number of reports that are available in pipe delimited format

• The ability to choose this output may be within the report, or on a separate tab.

• These can be text based, useful when needing to provide lists for users or staff members eg. List bibliography

• Can be numerically based, which can then be used to produce graphs eg. Current User Statistics

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

To Open in Excel

After saving the pipe delimited report as a .txt file, open Excel and then open the saved file. This should open the Text Import Wizard in Excel.

Select delimited

Select Other and add |

Fixed Format Helper

The list of pipe delimited reports created.

Click and view the report and save as a .txt file

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

This will then produce an excel spread sheet………………

……which can then be used to create a graph

Create your own using the replace option in Word. This may involve a little trial and error, but with practice you could go………  From This......... Creating Your Own Colour Scheme

Changing a colour scheme

2010 COSA USER CONFERENCE | 26-27 OCTOBER | GOLD COAST

The Theme File

• Find the theme file C:\Program Files\Sirsi\Jwf\Property

• Copy a file you would like to change. This will be your backup should you want to use it again

• You have to use one of the existing files because the selection list in the Desktop Preferences window is hard coded with the delivered themes‐

• Either pick one with a name that closest to what you intend to end up with, or one that is at the top or bottom of the list, so that it’s easy to remember which one is your custom colour theme.
