Protection Tissue » Epidermis Tissue

Characteristic:

1. Consist of living cell

2.Rectangular in shape

3.Compact cells & don’t

have has space

4.Don’t have chlorophyll

5.Able to forming derivate of

epidermis tissue

Function:

1. Protect the inner part of plant organ

2.Protect the plant from losing water

from transpiration, mechanical

damage, change of temperature and

lack of nutrition

Location:

Surface of plant organ

Stomata

Stomata or leaf mouth is gap

in epidermis tissue that border

by two guard cell.

Function:

1. The way for enter of CO2

from air and exit of O2

during photosynthesis

process in daylight

2.Transpiration route

3.Respiration route, the

entering of O2 and exit of

CO2

Trichomes

Trichomes are

modification of epidermal

tissue as hairs.

Function:

1. Reduce evaporation

2.Relay stimulus

3.Reduce disturbance

from human & animal

4.Help seed distribution

5.Help seed germination

Strengthener Tissue » Parenchyme Tissue

Parenchyma are ground

tissue that found in almost

all of plant organ.

Characteristic:

1. Living cells with large

size & thin wall. Mostly

hexagonal.

2. Have many vacuola

3. Nucleic are close to the

cell base

4. Meristematic

5. Have a lot of interstitial

Function:

1. Produce food through photosynthesis process in

Assimilation Parenchyma

2. Store excess food in Storage Parenchyma

3. Holds water in Water Parenchyma

4. Transport water & nutrient (near xylem) and

distribute the photosynthesis’s product (near

phloem) in Vascular Parenchyma.

Location:

Present in epidermis until pith and between xylem &

phloem.

Connective Tissue » Collenchyma & Sclerenchyma

Tissue

Connective tissue are tissue

that act to support the shape

of plant body to stand up

right.

Function:

1. Strengthen the upright

position of stem & leaves

2. Protect the seeds

3. Strengthen parenchyma

tissue that store air.

4. Protect vascular bundles

Collenchyma

Collenchyma is living tissue

that shows a lot of

parenchyma characteristic.

Function:

To supporting and strengthen

tissue of plant organ.

Location:

Can found in above of

young stem surface and

handle of young leaves.

Sclerenchyma

Is connective tissue that can

found in adult plant.

Characteristic:

1. Thick cell wall

2. have lignin & cellulosa

3.Inactive protoplasm when

adult

Function:

As connective and protection

Location:

In various place in plant organ

Sklereid

Are plant cells that has die.

Circular shape and have

thick cell wall.

Transporting/Vascular Tissue » Xylem & Floem

Characteristic of Xylem:

1. Consist of death cells and living

cells.

2.Cell wall impregnated with lignin

3.The cells are in lines and form

vascular bundle

Function:

1. Distribute water and nutrient

from the root to the leaves.

Location:

Can found in stem and root

Characteristic of Phloem:

1. The cells like pyramid

Function:

1. To distribute the photosynthesis

product from leaves to all of the

part of plant

Location:

Can found in stem and root.

Cork Tissue

Cork Tissue

Is tissue that composed by cork parenchyma cell.

Characteristic:

1. Cork cell are long with cell wall that cork-

containing

2. In death cork cell, protoplasm is gone and replace

by air.

Function:

To protect other tissue in under of them from

drought and mechanical disturbances.

Location:

Can found in under of epidermis.
