Welcome to our course!

I'm Ana Albi and I hope you will find the course as profitable as you anticipate it to be.  Before you begin, some instructions on what to do each week.

On Monday of each week,

at 8:00 am Brasilia time,

we will make the week's work available to you.

Every week, you will have the week's goal set out for you. You can click on

the title and see what is in store for you that week.

As well as the goals, each week brings lessons covering the material of the

week. You should check every activity proposed for the week.

You can go back and view anything as often as you wish, and at any point, if you feel ready, you may go to something

else.

You can go through and try each exercise from start to finish, or try only

the ones you want to reinforce.

You may re-do the exercises as often as you like or skip the ones you

are sure about.

At any point, if you have any doubts, you may send me an e-mail at the address you will find on our

database, or post it to our class help desk forum and let me and your

colleagues help.

You will be presented with a number of tasks which include reading and writing activities, discussions and exercises.

You will not be graded in these activities, and you may re-do or edit them as often as you wish.  It is your

participation and improvement that we are interested in.

There are four mandatory writing assignments which will help me assess your progress. They will be available at

the end of every two weeks.

These assignments will be highlighted with an asterisk to call your attention.

We expect you to present the mandatory writing assignments within a

week of its posting.

They should be turned in a timely fashion, so your instructor can have

enough time to provide comments and feedback.

Besides the course platform, we will use other internet tools. You will receive information on

how to use them as necessary.

We will also have a wiki space for our discussions, and to share your texts. You will receive an invitation to join the workspace via

email, with the necessary explanations.

We will often refer to material in your textbook, Inside Academic Writing.

If you weren't able to complete all the mandatory tasks by the end of week 8, you can still do them

during the two weeks that follow.

The deadline for completion of the course is December 11th.  This means that you must

submit or post all mandatory work by that day.

If you have any problems with this deadline, please send me an e-mail explaining the

problem and we will try to find a solution, if at all possible.

I'll be happy to answer any further questions by e-mail, but for now, click on other areas of our course and discover what we have made available for you.

Enjoy!
