The story Of Johannes Gutenberg

By: Jacob Lewis

Once upon a time, in the land of Mainz, Germany, in the year 1398, a young man who would change the world was born. His name was Johannes Gutenberg.

When he was growing up, he learned how to work metal working with his family in the trade of goldsmithing.

Gutenberg continued to work on his skills over the years. He became very good at his work. He then began to work on his printing press.

It is said that the plans for the moveable type printing press loans came to Gutenberg in a vision. He worked to perfect these for his clients. He took out loans and worked very hard.

In 1450 he finished his great project. After several loans, he finally finished what would not only change his life, but the course of the entire world.

Gutenberg had finally invented the moveable type printing press. Books were now more affordable and his next project would set in motion the Protestant Reformation.

His next task involved another loan. He would print the first mass produced bible, so everyone could interpret the bible for themselves.

After a falling out with his partner and being exiled, Archbishop Adolph van Nassau finally recognized him as the brilliant man he was. He received free wine and grain. He died in 1468, largely unknown for his great deed.

That is the story of one of the greatest people to ever walk this Earth. Johannes Gutenberg changed many of the long set practices of life. He created one of the greatest inventions of all time.
