PERSPECTIVE

Ptr. Henry Brown

Which of these represent you?

What do you see?

What do you see?

Philippians 2:1-182 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being

united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any

common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and

compassion,

2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the

same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking

to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in

very nature God, did not consider equality with God

something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the

very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

8 And being found in appearance as a man, he

humbled himself by becoming obedient to

death—even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God

exalted him to the highest place and gave him the

name that is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on

earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue

acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory

of God the Father.

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always

obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much

more in my absence—continue to work out your

salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will

and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so

that you may become blameless and pure,

“children of God without fault in a warped and

crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them

like stars in the sky

16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run

or labor in vain.

17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.

18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

NIV

Your perspective is the way you see something.

If we say someone "has perspective," we mean she has a sensible outlook on

life.

Perspective- a particular attitude toward or way of

regarding something; a point of view.

A DIFFERENT WAY OF THINKING

Philippians 2:55 In your relationships with one another, have the same

mindset as Christ Jesus…

IF YOU THINK LIKE JESUS THOUGHT, YOU’LL LIVE LIKE

JESUS LIVED.

Proper attitude or perspective can make a positive difference.

Philippians 2:1-21 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the

same love, being one in spirit and purpose.

HOW YOU THINK DETERMINES WHAT YOU BECOME.

I.PROPER PERSPECTIVE SEES PROBLEMS AS POSSIBILITIES.

Philippians 2:8-11being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and

became obedient to death- even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is

above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11

and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory

of God the Father.

PLEASING GOD ISN’T ABOUT SELF-PROMOTION BUT SELF

ABANDONMENT.

MY JOY ISN’T BASED ON WHAT HAPPENS TO ME, BUT ON WHAT

GOD IS DOING IN ME AND THROUGH ME

Proper attitude or perspective can make a positive difference

II. PROPER PERSPECTIVE SEES PEOPLE IN RELATION TO THEIR POTENTIAL.

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish

ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better

than yourselves.

Humility is the opposite of pride. But what humility is not, is weakness.

Humility is to look to another person and see their interests and to count them as more important than your own.

A servant always does the will of another

A servant always does the will of another

SERVING IS NOT WHAT I DO. A SERVANT IS WHO I AM.

How do you see people?Do you see them in relation to

their potential?

Philippians 2:4-7Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Your attitude

should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. 6 Who, being in very

nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be

grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human

likeness.

III. PROPER PERSPECTIVE SEES THE PRESENT IN RELATION TO GOD’S PROMISE

Philippians 2:8-11And being found in appearance as

a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death- even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is

above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus

Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

We must see the present in relation to the future, which is in

God’s hands.

We must see the present in relation to the future, which is in

God’s hands.

The most significant decision WE can make on a day-to-day basis is, OUR

choice of PERSPECTIVE.

Ecclesiastes 1:99 What has been will be

again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing

new under the sun. NIV

Philippians 2:17But even if I am being poured out

like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice

with all of you.

If the congregation has the right perspective, we can experience unity- which results to church

growth.

If everyone in the family has the right perspective, we can

experience unity- it results in great Testimony.

If the community has the right perspective, we can experience

unity- it results to great harmony.

If the nation has right perspective, we can experience

unity- it results in economic prosperity.
