ADVENTURE

ADVENTFrom the Latin “ADVENTUS”

ADVENTURE

ADVENT“The arrival of an important person,

place of things”  “The approach of something”

ADVENTURE

For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world —

to bear witness to the truth . . .

ADVENTURE

Jesus said,  “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.

No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 18:37-38/John 14:6 – English Standard

Version)

ADVENTURE

Christ came to take away our sins . . . That is why God's Son came. He came to stop what the devil

does. (1 John 3:5,8/ - New Life Version/World English

Bible)

ADVENTURE A Christmas Message Series

WHY?

ADVENTURE

He died for our sins just as God our Father planned, and rescued us from this evil world in which we live.

(Galatians 1:4 –– The Living Bible)

ADVENTURE A Christmas Message Series

Jesus Came To Rescue Us!

ADVENTURE

RESCUETo save someone from a dangerous

or distressing situation.

ADVENTURE

Why Jesus Came To Our Rescue

ADVENTURE

At that time you were apart from Christ. You were foreigners and did not belong to God's chosen

people.

ADVENTURE

You had no part in the covenants, which were based on God's promises to his people, and you lived in

this world without hope and without God.

ADVENTURE

But now, in union with Christ Jesus you, who used to be far away, have been brought near by the

blood of Christ. For Christ himself has brought us peace by

making Jews and Gentiles one people.

ADVENTURE

With his own body he broke down the wall that separated them and kept them enemies . . . in this

way making peace. (Ephesians 2:12-15 – The Message)

ADVENTURE

Helpless

ADVENTURE

Hopeless

ADVENTURE

While we were still helpless, powerless to provide for our salvation, at the right time Christ died as a substitute for the ungodly . . . (Romans 5:6 – The

Amplified Bible)

ADVENTURE

How Jesus Came To Our Rescue

ADVENTURE

Our rescue was initiated by God

ADVENTURE

“Healthy people don’t need a doctor, but sick people do.

I didn’t come to invite good people to be my followers.

I came to invite sinners.” (Jesus - Mark 2:17 – Contemporary English Version)

ADVENTURE

“The Son of Man came to find lost people and save them.”

(Jesus - Luke 19:10 – New Century Version)

ADVENTURE

Our rescue was motivated by love

ADVENTURE

For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He even gave up His only Son, so that whoever believes in, trusts in, clings to, and relies

on Him

ADVENTURE

shall not perish, come to destruction or be lost, but have everlasting life. For God did not send the Son

into the world in order to judge, to reject or to condemn the world,

ADVENTURE

but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.

(John 3:16-17 – The Amplified Bible)

ADVENTURE

God shows and clearly proves His own love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ

the Messiah died for us. (Romans 5:8 – The Amplified Bible)

ADVENTURE

Our rescue was activated on the cross

ADVENTURE

At one time you were far away from God. Now you have been brought close to Him. Christ did this for

you when He gave His blood on the cross. (Ephesians 2:13 – NLV)

ADVENTURE

The Son of Man did not come to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his life to rescue many

people. (Mark 10:45 – Contemporary English Version)

ADVENTURE

Our rescue culminated in bringing us home

ADVENTURE

Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you

safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit. (1 Peter 3:18 –

New Living Translation)

ADVENTURE

When Jesus Came To Our Rescue

ADVENTURE

But when the right time came, God sent his Son into the world. A woman gave birth to him . . .  God sent him . . . so that we would be adopted as

his children. (Galatians 4:4-5 – God’s Word Translation)

ADVENTURE

Now is the right time! Now is the day of salvation!(2 Corinthians 6:2 – Common English Bible)
