THROUGH THE FIRE

JUDE 1:17-2317 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.

18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”

JUDE 1:17-2319 These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

20 But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.

JUDE 1:17-2321 Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

22 Be merciful to those who doubt;

JUDE 1:17-2323 Snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear-hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

WHAT DO YOU

REMEMBER?

““

17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus

Christ foretold.

JUDE 1: 17

REMEMBER THE

WORDS SPOKEN BEFORE

REMEMBER WHO SPOKE TO THEM

REMEMBER WHAT THEY

SAID

““

1 “Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholeness thinking. 2 I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.”2 PETER 3: 1-2

WHAT ARE

SCOFFERS?

““

18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”

JUDE 1:18

““

3 “First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.”

2 PETER 3:3

THROUGH THE FIRE

The word translated "scoffer" in English can mean:

“One who Mocks, Ridicules, or Scorns

the belief of another."

THROUGH THE FIRE

In Hebrew, the word translated "scoffer" or "mocker" can also mean

“Ambassador."

So a scoffer is one who not only disagrees with an idea, but he also

considers himself an ambassador for the opposing idea

THROUGH THE FIRE

He cannot rest until he has demonstrated the foolishness of any

idea not his own.

A scoffer voices his disagreement, ridicules all who stand against him, and actively recruits others to join his side.

THROUGH THE FIRE

In the Bible, scoffers are those who choose to disbelieve God and His Word.

They say in their hearts, "There is no God" (Psalm 14:1), and make it their ambition to ridicule those who follow

God.

““

1 Remember this: There are some terrible times coming in the last days.2 People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud and boast about themselves. They will abuse others with insults. They will not obey their parents. They will be ungrateful and against all that is pleasing to God.2 TIMOTHY 3:1-5

““

3 They will have no love for others and will refuse to forgive anyone. They will talk about others to hurt them and will have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 People will turn against their friends. They will do foolish things without thinking and will be so proud of themselves. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure.

2 TIMOTHY 3:1-5

““

5 They will go on pretending to be devoted to God, but they will refuse to let that "devotion" change the way they live. Stay away from these people!

2 TIMOTHY 3:1-5

They follow their ungodly desires.

WHAT DO THESE SCOFFERS DO?

They create divisions.

WHAT DO THESE SCOFFERS DO?

They follow their natural instincts.

WHAT DO THESE SCOFFERS DO?

They do not have the Spirit.

WHAT DO THESE SCOFFERS DO?

FIVE THINGS JUDE

WANTS US TO DO IN THE

LAST DAYS?

(1)BUILD YOURSELVES

UP IN THE MOST HOLY FAITH

““

20 But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your Most Holy Faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.

JUDE 1:20

There must be Spiritual Growth.

BUILD UP MEANS

There must be Personal Growth and Responsibility.

BUILD UP YOURSELVES MEANS

““

18 But grow in the Grace and Knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Glory be to him, now and forever! Amen.

2 PETER 3:18

The Faith once delivered.

THE MOST HOLY FAITH MEANS

““

42 The believers spent their time listening to t he teaching of the apostles. They shared everything with each other. They ate together and prayed together.

ACTS 2:42

(2)PRAY IN THE

HOLY SPIRIT

““

20 But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most Holy Faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.

JUDE 1:20

THROUGH THE FIRE

Prayer is necessary complement to the Word of God.

THROUGH THE FIRE

By the Word of God, God speaks to us; by Prayer, we speak to God.

THROUGH THE FIRE

The Word of God is a source of Strength and Comfort to us.

““

6 Don't worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks for what you have.7 And because you belong to Christ Jesus, God's peace will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings. His peace can do this far better than our human minds.

PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7

THROUGH THE FIRE

Prayer and the Word of God are the Two Legs upon which our

Spiritual being stands;

Both are needed to be well balanced in our Spiritual

Growth.

What is meant by Praying in the Spirit?

““

18 Pray in the Spirit at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers, and ask for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. Always pray for all of God's people.

EPHESIANS 6:18

““

25 We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit.

GALATIANS 5:25

““

14 We can come to God with no doubts. This means that when we ask God for things (and those things agree with what God wants for us), God cares about what we say.

1 JOHN 5:14

(3)KEEP YOURSELVES

IN THE LOVE OF GOD

““

21 Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
