What is Architecture?

Definition: Architecture is the profession of designing buildings, open areas, communities, and other artificial construction and environment. Architecture often includes designs or selection of furnishings and decorations, supervision of construction work, and the examination, restoration, or remodeling of existing buildings.

What is Islamic Architecture?

Definition:The architecture of the Islamic world—it consists of domes and minarets, arches and interior mind-boggling geometric decoration. It has fascinated many Western observers who have had few ways of really understanding the buildings or the beliefs and ways of life of the Muslims for whom these buildings were designed and erected. Architecture is more than a history of form and style: it's a product of cultural and environmental factors and an expression of the way of life of the people who live in the buildings.

Where Can Architecture Be Found?

Modern architecture has changed over the years and has been taken to many new levels. Many Islamic Architectures can be found in Dubai. Madinat Al-Hareer will soon we built in Kuwait. It will have modern versions of Islamic architecture in its especially tall tower. An example of modern Islamic architecture is the King Abdulaziz International Airport's Hajj Terminal, which many of you have been to or seen.

When Did Architecture Begin?

The study of architecture probably began with the Greeks and Romans. Islamic architecture began in 785 C.E. The first buildings that were built in the Islamic Empire were designed by  Greek architects who had already been living in the area when Arabs conquered it. Because of that, the buildings in the area look a lot like Roman Empire buildings.
