Four Postures of Worship

Yaddah - Lift Your HandsTowdah - Bring Your Gifts

Tehillah - Pour Out Your HeartBarauch - Bow Your Knees

Baraucha Hebrew word of Praise which means to express an attitude of

Praise. Submission and trust through the act of kneeling or

bowing. It is to continually give place to the Father in every area

of our life.

When we kneel or bow we are humbling ourselves.

James 4:6-7

6 But he gives us more grace. That is whyScripture says: “God opposes the proudbut shows favor to the humble.”

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resistthe devil, and he will flee from you.

When we humble ourselves we are submitting.

To submit is to humble ourselves.

1 Peter 5:5-7

5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All ofyou, clothe yourselves with humilitytoward one another, because, “Godopposes the proud but shows favor to thehumble.”6 Humble yourselves, therefore, underGod’s mighty hand, that he may lift youup in due time.7 Cast all your anxiety on him because hecares for you.

To humble myself is to cast all my care upon the Father. To submit all my concerns to

Him. Trusting that He will work out

all things for good.

Matt 2:10-11

10 When [the wisemen] saw the star, theywere overjoyed.

11 On coming to the house, they saw thechild with his mother Mary, and theybowed down and worshiped him.

Wise men kneel before 2 years old to worship

Psalm 95:6-7

6 Come, let us bow down in worship, letus kneel before the LORD our Maker;

7 for he is our God and we are the peopleof his pasture, the flock under his care.

Bow down in Hebrew

SHAKKAHwhich means to bow down, fall

down flat, and worship.

God is Holy, that’s why He hide His face to Moses and

when the High priest enter to the Holy of Holies He is tied

with a rope

God asks us to bow to Him and not to bow to something

besides Him.There is no other gods

besides Him and don’t bow to false idols.

WE SHOULD KNEEL BEFORE HIM

KNEEL IN

PURSUIT

Mark 10:17

17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ranup to him and fell on his knees beforehim. “Good teacher,” he asked, “whatmust I do to inherit eternal life?”

When life gives you more than you can stand—KNEEL.

Some of you aren’t followers of Christ, Some are not sure what

they believe. Why don’t you kneel before Him and ask Him to come into your

life.

Draw near to Him and He’ll draw near to you.

KNEEL IN

REPENTANCE

Weight of sin is heavy.

Luke 5:8

8 When Simon Peter realized what hadhappened, he fell to his knees before Jesusand said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me I’mtoo much of a sinner to be around you.”

KNEEL IN

SUBMISSION

Other cultures

kneeling in submission and honor is the norm.

European curtsy (yukod, bigay galang)

before royalty,

Japanese bow on business meetings,

Muslim prayer on mat.

On our culture

sometimes we don’t use to it, sometimes we don’t like to

submit.

Luke 22:29-44

29 And I confer on you a kingdom, just asmy Father conferred one on me,

30 so that you may eat and drink at mytable in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to siftall of you as wheat.

Luke 22:29-44

32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, thatyour faith may not fail. And when youhave turned back, strengthen yourbrothers.”

Luke 22:29-44

37 It is written: ‘And he was numberedwith the transgressors’[a]; and I tell youthat this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, whatis written about me is reaching itsfulfillment.”

Luke 22:29-44

43 An angel from heaven appeared to himand strengthened him.

44 And being in anguish, he prayed moreearnestly, and his sweat was like drops ofblood falling to the ground.

Kneeling to pray is often what gives you the strength to

stand.

YOU CAN KNEEL NOW OR YOU CAN KNEEL LATER

Philippians 2:8-11
