2 Peter 2 1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the Way of Way of TruthTruth shall be evil spoken of.

We see from these Scriptures that even beforebefore the death of the all the Apostles,

False teachers, men of the world, had entered the churchentered the church.

DevilsDevils waste no time laying backlaying back, taking their ease,

And wewe can't afford to either.

In chapter 1, Peter taught the absolute Truthabsolute Truth and AuthorityAuthority of the Holy Scriptures.

But now a warning!

There were false prophetsfalse prophets in the Old Testament days, and there are false teachersfalse teachers in the church.

Many more people will believe a liebelieve a lie and follow a liarfollow a liar, than will believe The TruthThe Truth.

Most people want to be able to boastboast of their good works, rather than acceptaccept salvation by grace.

They don't want to think that the gluttonglutton they know mightmight be in Heaven right along with them.

Still othersothers want to deny the Lord Jesus Christ, because they don't like that "LORDLORD" part.

If Jesus is Lord, thenthen we are His servants.

He tells usHe tells us how to live our lives.

If Jesus is Lord, then His WordHis Word is absolute; we mustwe must live according to His Word.

Proverbs 30 5 Every Word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.

When people claimclaim the Name of Jesus,

But do not livedo not live in the Way of Truth,

They bring hypocrisyhypocrisy into the church, which stealssteals the joy and peacejoy and peace of God's children,

Opening the door for outsiders to denydeny the

Goodness of GodGoodness of God.

These false teachers tell the lies that people want want to hearto hear, so they will have a large following.

A large following means a large incomelarge income.
