Graphical Virtualization Consultancy

Working with Autodesk Consulting, Citrix and VMware resellers globallyBuilt our business on GPU’s with Quadro then GRIDHardware – Server specified to Application mixSoftware – Understanding graphical applications and workflows of clientsInfrastructure – Storage and Network requirementsKnowledge gap – Customers through to Vendors lack experience

Haswell and Broadwell testing project

Asked to test AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Solidworks and Siemens NXThere our other OEMs offering cartridge based servers (Super Micro, Cisco)

Our own benchmark testing took place as well as some of our AEC and MFG customers tested, we also had Thomas Poppelgaard help out too.

Outcome

• Haswell limitations were GPU based, model sizes up to 50meg + Video RAM

• Broadwell proved a big jump, handling 500meg + models • Integration of CPU and GPU reduces latency and delivers real

performance• No hypervisor removes complexity and adds to user experience• Similar to how we deployed Quadro solutions, ‘bare metal delivery’• Potential to use XenApp to share resource on each processor (2x or

3x users)• Still need to optimize environment

What will work for you?

• One size does not fit all, yet• What are you looking to achieve for your business?• Mobility, centralized Data/IP protection, better Collaboration, easier

IT management, reducing hardware footprint, power/cost.• Pro’s and Con’s to both systems• Understand you user groups workflows to find the best solution• Local workstations, NVIDIA GRID, and Intel all could work for your

business• Private Clouds can really deliver serious business benefits

Summary

There is now another option for Graphical solutionsIt can handle most daily workloadsUse Intel and NVIDIA GRID to provide the right solutionFeel free to reach out to IMSCAD for a demo of either solution
