Social Media 101What to Post, Where, When, and How!

• talk specifically about using Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn for your business

• we are going to practice creating a piece of content and sharing it

why are we using it?•build relationships with potential and current customers, media, and industry

•establish authority and credibility in your realm

•bring your ideas to the conversation

•well…where is your target audience?

•(this means you have to define your target audience if

you haven’t done so already…)

social media really comes down to 3 things:

•connection•conversation•content

let’s break that down.purpose – to inform, educate, build relationships, give

feedback

audience – followers, customers, influencers, media, industry

channel – social media platform, like FB, Twitter, or LI

form – photo, stat, article, video, or…………….

really, the possibilities of what you can post and share are endless

content marketing is a whole other topic, but we can use Facebook, Twitter, and

LinkedIn to:

•improve our connection to other people, thus driving more traffic to your businesses

•start conversations around your brand

•share valuable content that engages your following

facebook has changed how business is transacted

• 16 Million local business pages have been created as of May 2013 which is a 100 percent increase from 8 million in June 2012. (Source:

• Twitter users are 3 times more likely to follow brands than Facebook users

• Twitter users research and engage with companies. 42% learn about products and services via Twitter. 41% provide opinions about products/services. 19% seek customer support.

where do i go from here?

• decide on the channels you will be faithful to updating

• start connecting – add people you already know, invite people to connect with you on your personal social media, go thru that stack of biz cards!

• start conversing – just join the conversation!

• share content – for right now, retweet, comment on, and share the content of others. when you feel comfortable, create your own!
