How to engage with influencers?• Have a conversation with them

about something they created!

• Listen to a podcast, watch a video, read an article… then tweet about something you learned.

• After having this conversation, I learned that Brett is top on the FinancialBrand.com list of influencers.

@susvis 15

Make them remember your name!

• Point out the books influencers have written by mentioning the author and providing a link to their book.

• Thank the person who provided you with great content!

• After having this conversation, I learned that Ron is near the top on the FinancialBrand.com list of influencers.

@susvis 16

Share great content with your followers!

• Even if you are listening to a presentation that can’t be shared with your external audience, mention what you are doing.

• Find content from the speaker that you can share! Sharing older content is still valuable.

@susvis 17

No influencer is off-limits on social!

• Authors, speakers, founders of companies, actors, even the president of the USA!

• If you like something someone did, tell them. Everyone likes to be recognized for the work that they do.

• You could complain too, but you might not make too many friends that way.

@susvis 18

Recognize people who took the time to thank you

• If someone reaches out to you with a thank you, a question, or even a favourite, take the time to thank them.

• While you’re at it, start a conversation!

@susvis 19

Make a habit of recognizing others

• #FF = Follow Friday

• Use this to call out the many people who interacted with you over the past week.

• You can do several of these and put them in categories: people I met; people who started following me; people you want to meet!

@susvis 20

Learn more about influencers from their profile

• Spend time looking at the profiles of the people who are considered influencers.

• Click their links to learn more about them and the content they tend to share.

• Go through their following list to find people you may wish to follow.

• Twitter automatically shows you the followers you have in common.

@susvis 21

Pay attention to lists of top influencers

• This list from FinancialBrand.com makes it easy to connect with everyone on their list. Just click the Twitter or LinkedIn icons!

@susvis 22

Find more influencers via Twitter Lists

• You can find a list by clicking on a person’s profile photo.

• See the lists they’ve subscribed to.

• Subscribe to a list to focus the conversations in your stream.

• Follow those people you most like hearing from.

@susvis 23
