Employer’s Responsibility• Establish, implement and maintain a
relevant Injury and Illness Prevention Program and update it periodically to keep employees safe (Title 8 CCR – section 3203)
• Inspect workplaces to identify, correct or abate unsafe and hazardous conditions
• Make sure employees have and use safe tools and equipment and are properly trained on the use of the equipment
• Establish or update operating procedures and communicate policies so employees follow safety and health requirements

Employee’s Responsibility• Follow all lawful employer safety
and health rules and regulations, and wear or use prescribed personal protective equipment while working
• Report hazardous conditions to your employer
• Report any job-related injury or illness to your employer, and seek treatment promptly
• Cooperate with the CAL/OSHA enforcement personnel when they are conducting an inspection if they inquire about safety and health conditions in your workplace

Training Requirements per CAL/OSHA• CAL/OSHA & FED/OSHA have specific
guidelines for employee training and documentation requirements
• CAL/OSHA & FED/OSHA have specific guidelines for training for particular industries
• Training requirements are found in Construction Safety Orders 29 CFR 1926 (Subchapter 4) & General Industry Safety Orders 29 CFR 1910 (Subchapter 7)
• Employers should have established a training matrix with objective evidence of training
• “If it is not documented – it didn’t happen”
